Michael Saul Dell the famous CEO of Dell Inc was born on 23 February 1965, in Houston, Texas. His fascination for computers developed right since he was a child. When he was 15 years old he broke down a computer and reassembled it.

Michael Dell attended Memorial High School in Houston. He never excelled scholastically. He developed his business instincts here. He sold subscriptions for the Houston Post. He made $18,000 in the business and got a computer and a BMW for himself. Later when he was 19, Dell dropped out of the university. He started a company called PC’s Limited. This company evolved into Dell Computer Corporation and went on to become Dell Inc.

As Dell started growing so did its problems. The Computer Hardware industry also faced a very stiff competition. Despite the hurdles Dell survived to become the most profitable PC manufacturer in the world. It also expanded its product line. Amongst various business disputes, the one with Apple CEO Steve Jobs hogged maximum media attention. Today Michael Dell’s wealth is estimated at $ 17.2 billion. He lives with his wife and children in Texas and is known to lavishly donate for charity.

Dell has won prestigious awards which include: “Entrepreneur of the Year” from Inc. magazine; “Man of the Year” from PC Magazine; “Top CEO in American Business” from Worth Magazine; “CEO of the Year” from Financial World and Industry Week magazines.
