This 55 year old Steel Baron is one of the richest men in the world. He owns the the world’s largest steel company, Mittal Steel. He began his career with his traditional family business of steel in India in 1976. His family moved to Kolkota and he completed his graduation there.
Mittal set out to establish the international division for his company. He bought a sick plant in Indonesia and turned it over to a profit making company. Thereafter Mittal has specialized in buying and turning over sick government companies. Gradually he grew to be wealthy and one of the most influential citizens of London. He built assets in many countries. Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, South Africa, Poland, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Canada, Bulgaria, United States, Trinidad, Brazil and Mexico are a few to name.
He took over Arcelor Steel, one of the biggest Steel companies in Europe and merged it into his own company to form ArcelorMittal. In March 2008, Mittal was the 4th wealthiest person in the world as declared by Forbes Magazine. His residence at 18-19 Kensington Palace Gardens was bought from Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone in 2004 for $128 million making it the world’s most expensive house. Mittal is famous for the lavish weddings of his children.
