He is the unquestioned king of the gambling world of Las Vegas. He is the owner of not only the gambling world in the US but almost all over the world.

Sheldon Adelson was born in Boston to jewish parents. His mother emigrated to the United States from Ukraine and his father came from Lithuania. His father was a taxi driver and made a humble living. Sheldon started his career selling newspapers. Later he worked as a mortgage broker, an investment adviser and financial consultant. He also made small money in many diverse businesses.

Adelson’s rise to wealth and fame started with the computer trade show COMDEX. This was the first show of its kind in 1979.
Adelson and his partners later purchased the Sands Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This used to be the hang out for the likes of Frank Sinatra. After making big money in the Casinos and gambling industry he ventured into hotels and hospitality industry.

 After making it big in the US he turned his attention towards the Gambling industry in China. Adelson introduced a major Casino in Macao in China. This mega Casino became the first Casino of People’s Republic of China. Adelson is now the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Las Vegas Sands Corp.  Adelson vastly increased his net worth upon the initial public offering of Las Vegas Sands in December 2004. He sold 10% of the shares to make a huge profit. With an estimated wealth of US$26.5 billion he is counted amongst the richest in the world.
